Lilyside is a small quiet town with a population of 1,741, occupying less than 300 acres. It is located in Windhill County, northwest of Lake Sidna. The settlement has a notoriously scattered layout, blending in with the forest, with similarly-styled buildings no taller than two stories, made from stone, wood, and tiles. Diverse and lush flora can be found in unoccupied areas between buildings, providing a colorful and beautifully natural look to the quaint village.
Known for the presence of sentient kryssids among its human residents, Lilyside is regarded as a peaceful, hallowed place by most outsiders. It hosts the annual flower and lights festival in summer, and counts with several sanctuaries for endangered species. Its strategic location serves as a midpoint for travelers to rest and travel by water across Windhill’s rivers and roads.
In spite of its easy-going analogue ambient, villagers are not strangers to high-end technology, although its usage is limited given its tendency to disrupt the levels of spiritual energy. As Lilyside's surroundings are closely tied with the Intangible Instance, disturbances caused by technological signatures can alert unwanted threats. Lilyside enforces strict policies of natural preservation, including but not limited to vegetation, wildlife, spirits, and its residents.
Increased sightings of hostile Kryssids recently drove the town to seek the aid of specialized hunters, who are rewarded with titles and monetary compensation. Kryssid Hunters can register themselves with one known as 'The Intangible Gatekeeper', a reserved and mysterious individual who oversees the tasks and conducts important research on the creatures. Hunters who perform with efficacy are granted titles and ranks, allowing them access to higher-risk and higher-paying contracts.
