Name: Jack Davenport
Appearance: For his age, Jack is incredibly well built. A life lived at sea doing all manner of legitimate and non-legitimate duties and jobs have hardened him into a well worn sailor. His face is scarred and eyes are permanently narrowed, and years of pipe smoking has given his voice a good amount of gravel to go with it's already deep tones. Jack is a massive human, and his physique is impeccable, giving him both the speed and strength of youth tempered by the wisdom and experience of an old man. His beard and hair are still jet black, and many believe this is why he is called "Black Jack", though the few who knew him as a Privateer actually know how that name came about.
Apparel: No longer a privateer, Jack has traded in his plain and utilitarian clothing for the uniform of the Lorian Navy. Though he can sport medals and ribbons, he prefers to keep his uniform sparse, leaving only his shoulderboard insignia and rank embroidery on his uniform. This is for two reasons: One, it's easier to maneuver through a ship as a man of his size if he does not have a lot of things that can catch. Two: He prefers simple accoutrements, not caring to display his achievements.
"Someday, the only thing that will tell our stories will be what is inscribed on our tombstones."
Jack is a shrewd and pragmatic individual, a far cry from the blustering exuberance of his youth. He excels at Naval warfare of all types. Jack is a 'lead from the front' kind of individual, and has found it hard to sit behind a desk instead of boarding an enemy vessel with his crew. He is short and to the point, a gruff individual who, at first glance, looks entirely unapproachable. However, he is actually quite understanding, willing to hear out those who have something to say.
An adaptable person, Jack easily transitioned from the old wooden ships to the cryptite powered masses of metal, enjoying the challenge of learning how to utilize the new vessels in warfare and the capabilities they brought to bear. He is a loyal supporter of Queen Alessia, and publicly will support her without faltering. However in private this may be different, and he has no issue bringing up his reservations with her or anyone else once outside of the public eye. The man has no political ambition, preferring to look his enemy in the eye rather than navigate the politics of office. Because of this, he hasn't made many friends in the political arena, though most at least respect his consistency in being a bit too honest with his thoughts.
Jack loves progress, and will happily endorse other ideas if he believes the end result will mean a more efficient way of providing a result. He doesn't look strictly to the military either, and has been known to employ private mercenaries or factions to achieve a goal that would take too long through official channels.
